Simply…Thinking of You

August 20th, 2010

Sympathy cards are really hard! It’s also really difficult to make one when you KNOW you need it, so I try to make some when I am crafting my other stuff, tuck them aside and know I have them to reach for if I need it.

I found this great website as well to share it on in their challenge this week The Cuttlebug Spot.

I used a new Cuttlebug folder, Teal Smooch to color the bird, hemp to add some texture and a “Thinking of You” sentiment, I think is from SU!. I used wood paper to keep it clean and mounted it on peacock cardstock from Paper Source to finish it off.

It’s simply yet meaningful. Hope you enjoyed.

Faith

August 19th, 2010

A very close family friend was recently diagnosed with Melanoma, she is an amazing person. In last year she has become a mother and to get this type of diagnosis is not what you want to hear in your first year of motherhood…or ever!

I wanted to send her a card of support but wanted to recognize that FAITH will get you through. Whatever you believe in, I am not preaching I am just saying….your Faith will get you through. It has gotten my family through Cancer as well, I wanted her to know I was there for her.

I used So Saffron as my base, a Jenni Bowlin “Faith” card that I distressed, A home made notebook sheet, pearl adhesives and a pop of color with the fabric rose. I love this and I hope she does too, she will get through this….I have the Faith!!

Babes of Summer!

July 24th, 2010

I bought this stamp some time ago at Paper Source because well…I love babies, Summer and the beach….I am also amused by their little bathing suits too!!

I had only a few minutes while the kiddos were playing behind me to do this, literally minutes! I wanted to get my craft on and knew I could do something simple yet sweet with this stamp.

I took out a A9 Sunshine flat card, left over baby blue Bassil cardstock, Paper Trey white cardstock, London Fog ink pad and started out….I added the brown paper ribbon then distressed it a bit as well as the card trim for a little somethin’.

For a spare few minutes…I think it turned out pretty simple and sweet….what do ya think??

Next time I am going to take some color to those gorgeous babes, but for now they are cute just in gray!

Have a great day everyone!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Our own Mr. Incredible….Happy Father’s Day!

June 20th, 2010

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there….today we are celebrating two of my favorite people….my Dad and hubby! It’s a “Hallmark” Day yes….but one that surely does not deserve to go unnoticed….like oh Valentine’s Day in our house…YUCK!

Today I am here to share my Father’s Day card for my hubby, can’t post my Dad’s yet(going to see him during the week)….I used Tiddly Inks current challenge as my inspiration. When I saw the challenge on Tuesday but I had already printed out this guy the day before….I guess great minds think alike!

I had SO MUCH fun making this, this was one of my favorites by far!! I started out with a red petal enclosure and really cute robot paper that I got at Paper Source. I traced the petal enclosure to the back of the paper and then used my Xyron 510 to attach it to the enclosure…have you seen my Xyron 510 Giveaway???? I am giving away a Xyron 510 on July 24th! Go here to enter to win!!

I attached the paper to the enclosure then set out to design a sash for the enclosure to stay closed. I did not want to use an envelope, I wanted the delivery to be very special….so I made a sash out of Gravel, Robot and Chartreuse paper, I added the border and put some screw brads through it for dimension and “coolness”. I used the “Nutz for You” sentiment then went over it with a gray Souffle pen and embossed the border with a metallic gold.

Once I had the sash done I went on to the inside of the card…I have to say my favorite is in the “DAD” on the suitcase…they are self adhesive letters and so fun! I colored the Daddy Robot in with Souffle and Glaze pens…I wanted a really metallic look so skipped on my Copics. I did the same with the “DAD” sentiments as I did with the “Nutz For You” and then attached them all to a Gravel 5″ square with a Chartreuse header. I popped the Robot Dad up with Zots and closed it up with the sash, wrapped all Daddy’s fun gifts in Robot paper too!

Here it all is!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Happy Father’s Day!!!

Cheers!

Oh my I can not believe I have never made an easel card before!! Thanks to Mo’s Challenge Blog this week they pushed me to try it out. HOW EASY…they were right!!! I wanted to keep it simple, just in case…I can assure you I will be making a lot more of these!!

I used the “Bye-Bye” image from Mo’s Shop, it is so sweet and I have had her sitting around just waiting for a challenge!

I really did enjoy doing this card, it was really easy and I can’t wait to try different size variations.

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

On Your Way…Congrats Grad!

June 15th, 2010

I can not believe I am actually posting that my friends daughter who is also our babysitter and like a little sister to me is GRADUATING tonight!!! I can still remember the conversation with my friend about Whitney’s first day of high school. She has grown so much and has grown into a very sincere, generous, loving, caring, lovely young woman. We are so very proud of her and I am excited to share the big day with her and our kiddos. We are off to the graduation tonight and I had to find the right image for her card…I found this Anya Grad digi over on my new addiction The Greeting Farm…I then made a double pocket card to hold our sentiments and the other for her monetary gift in a baby envelope.

My children absolutely ADORE Whitney and we know when we leave our home with her in charge….they will be happy and well taken care of. Recently we went to the Curious George exhibit at the Boston Children’s Museum…guess who wanted to just come with us….yup! Whitney. I thought it was fitting that her gift from the kids be a Curious George book….it’s geared toward anyone graduating.

We are soooo proud of you Whitney…we love you and can’t wait to see what life brings next for you!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers!

Daddy and his Babies

June 14th, 2010

Father’s Day is right around the corner and I thought I would “make” something for my hubby to go with his Dad’s Day gift.

I saw that Tiddly Inks Challenge was hosting a “babies” challenge and was excited to play along….you should too!!!

I did my work in PhotoShop but I am thinking I may do it on paper….what do you think? Should I print it all out and make it or have the photo lab print out the project for me? I am torn!

These pictures were the very first pictures taken of my hubby when both of our children were born. They are nearly duplicates and it was NOT intended…I think it’s so cool that he held both of them in the same pose for his first picture. He is a very proud Daddy and it shows in his gleaming smile!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers! Also, don’t forget to stop by my Xyron 510 Giveaway Post!!!

Now this was a Challenge….Goth?????

June 7th, 2010

I have submitted a creation to every Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog since they started, so I have to keep with it….even if that means going out of my element. That’s what is so great about their challenges….it makes you really work on broadening your work. This week it was “Go Goth” and if you have not noticed yet….I’m far far far from that element! I do love the images that Christy has designed so it was easy to play along, in that sense.

I went to work…using Katrina, Gossemere and Batty….all Gothic Girls from Tiddly Inks. I opened them in PS and played around with placement then sent to printer! I used mainly Copics to color and some Sakura gel pens as well. I added some bling to the very flat card because I also wanted to see if I could do this challenge with just using the images and no other paper….this is what I came up with….

I hope I can stand close to the fabulous Design Team ladies on the TI Challenge Blog….I was nervous….still am…am I Goth???

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Last day of school…and love for our fabu teachers!!!

June 6th, 2010

Teachers are never given enough credit, they are the people who influence our children when they are not home with us….they deserve more recognition! As school is winding down and Summer knocks on our doors we celebrated our Little Lady’s last day of school last week. She loves school and her teachers…Miss Mary and Miss Beth are exceptional!!

I was very sick last week with a nasty bug but I had to push through and get their gifts ready for delivery on Tuesday am. I knew I wanted to place their gifts in the little paint cans and I knew just the image I wanted to use….“Schools Out” and “Teachers Change the World” from Tiddly Inks! I had to find the right size for the paint can that would still allow the message from our Little Lady. After numerous attempts I got it just right then I took some Copics and colored in the school. Once I was done with that I printed out the teacher from the Teachers set to make a card for the director of the school, she is always so busy double checking lunch boxes for allergy foods and making sure the day runs smoothly. I decorated the paint can with some ribbons and SU! Designer Paper. The card has the same elements and I hand wrote the chalkboard sign….I had a lot of fun creating these and all of the ladies were very appreciative….it made pushing through being sick WORTH IT!!

I also included a separate card for each teacher from my hubby and I with our words of thanks! Here is everything all together…hope you enjoy!!

Here is a little Story Board I put together to show the difference one school can make! I was pregnant with Chubba Bubba when she first went to school and now he is 8months old!!! Little Miss Magic is saying her ABC’s and 123’s, talking in full sentences and grown like 10 inches….or so it seems….they grow WAY too fast!! Sniffle Sniffle….

Nana’s are the best!

May 31st, 2010

Mother’s Day was a few weeks ago but my parents were still in Florida so I have yet to share this card with my Mom from her littles. Growing up having a Nana was so special, I spent weekends at her house and my other Nana lived with us so I had the best of both worlds. My Mom is so great with the kids, just today she took them out for a couple of hours because I am still sick and the hubby really needed to cut the grass.

I had made this card with my Mom in mind…it’s also for the Tiddly Inks Challenge # 6 this week, it’s about bling! My posts are short, I don’t have much energy but I really wanted to share this with ya’ll.

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!
