Cape Cod Summer…

September 4th, 2010

Happy Saturday! Today I am sharing a project I have been wanting to do for so long but never got the push to do it until I saw the new Tiddly Inks Challenge “Goodbye Summer“.

As children, my parents always took us to Cape Cod for the entire Summer. Some of my fondest memories are from our Summers on the Cape. We always had so much fun at the beach, mini golfing, playing in the sand pit, jumping the trampolines and going to Sundae School. This Summer, my husband and I were able to take the kids down for a couple of days, I wish it was the entire Summer!!!  While we were there though it rained for 95% of the time, so when the rain cleared the night before we left I headed down to the beach with my little lady. I took some shots, but needed to get a specific one….one that my parents took of me as a child. It’s been one of my favorite photos for as long as I can remember and I hoped that one day I would be able to recreate it with my own kids. Chubba Bubba is still too small so Hannah was the only one this year.

My husband grew up in Virginia so I got to share my nostalgia with him as well. Seeing the Cape through your kids eyes is so amazing, I look forward to doing it again.

I am so excited to have gotten this picture that I wanted to display it with some style! I started off with a white shelf from the hardware store and painted it with Distress Crackle Paint(Black Soot, ya I picked it up with my 40%coupon…love those!) and had to seal it 3 times with Acrylic sealer bc the paint was flaking off like crazy!! I like the way it turned out though bc it reminds me of driftwood from bonfires on the beach. I used Tiddly Inks “Light My Life” image, it is the pure essence of the Cape. I added letters to the board by using my Cricut machine, as well as the names beside each picture. I used some twill polka dot ribbon to frame out the picture sides and paper with family quotes to matte them. I had an extra piece so I “popped” up two sentiments that really struck me for these pictures, “Treasured Memories” and “smiles & laughter” with dimensionals. I put everything together with some Mod Podge, this is how the whole project turned out:

This was so wonderful to do, I love that I know have this memory set so I can hang it on our family wall. Now if I could just decide on paint color for the newly plastered walls to hang all my pictures up, ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Cheers!

Spooky Skull Wreath

September 3rd, 2010

Happy Friday Everyone!! I have something fun to share with you all a Mommy and daughter craft! Remember that jar of bling I posted awhile back….well I will show you what we used them for.  While at the store Little Miss Magic picked out this guy:

Pretty scary, right?!?! Well we decided to paint her “monster” white and then add bling all over him!! When I say we added the bling, she did about 5 blings! Ha! Here’s what he looked like after the blingifying!

As you can see in the picture there is some black around his head, I added black boas to a styrofoam wreath and then put him in the center, filled with leftover boa feathers.

After the wreath placement and some tweeking I placed him on a white brocade fabric covered piece of styrofoam to add more dimension. This will be displayed either on our front door or kitchen door once the Halloween decorating starts!

It was so much fun to make and although it was VERY time consuming….that time was spent with my Little Miss Magic and her buddy Steph!

If you have any questions about it, let me know!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Eat, Pray, Love…

August 18th, 2010

I am so excited to play along this week in the Tiddly Inks “Movie” Challenge!! At first, I thought I was going to be stumped…but after a little thought an idea popped into my head and I literally could not stop working on this card! If I was not working on it, I was thinking or talking about it!! The challenge was to make a project/card that detailed your favorite Summer movie. Well, I have yet to see this movie…it’s not the type my hubby would want to join me for, so I added it to my “Movie Wish List”. I thought if I made a little card invite to my bestie we could head out some night and catch this girlie flick. She and I try to see movies together that our hubbies won’t so this is a perfect challenge!!

I also have been wanting to try a “spinner card” for the longest time, but every time I think of it I was too far into the project…NOT THIS TIME! I am so excited that I got it right on the first try too! If you don’t know what this means…well basically the camera spins from side to side when you tip it. HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT! (Click on the pictures to see them larger)

I took three images that I thought were different enough, to showcase Christy’s amazing talent in diversity. I then made them soooo small and repeated them on the film strip sides. They were so fair when I printed them out that I had to go over them with a 0.05 Copic marker, to hide some imperfections I went over them with Crystal Effects. I then put a film camera onto the famous penny spinner for the spinner part of the card and let me tell you when I ever picked it up and saw it work….I was like a little kid…amazed, proud and excited!! I printed out some “tickets” from google images and cut them down. I used a tag punch with a brad for the “invite”. I included the designer paper because it reminds me of all the gorgeous colors in the Indian culture, which Julia visits in the movie, I think!

I can’t wait to send this off to my oldest and dearest friend(she is a dedicated reader too, so if you see this….prentend to be surprised when you get it in the mail, MUSH!)

Off to hang with my hubby to watch “Whale Wars” something we both enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

My Blueberry Girl!!

August 18th, 2010

Hey Everyone!!

I am here today to share my creation for the current challenge on Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge Blog. It was an inspiration theme this week and I must admit, it’s my first time playing along with this type of challenge. I had asked Mo on Facebook if she was going to be adding a blueberry picking girl to her already adorable stash of kids with fruit. Much to my excitement…it was there on her blog as a new image….YIPEE!

Every Friday morning during the Summer blueberry picking season I wake up my Little Miss Magic at 7:30 and ask her if she wants to go blueberry picking with me…her response is always, “SURE Momma…lemme get dressed and get our buckets”. I treasure this time with her, most of the time she is eating the berries while I pick but we have a chance to bond and I love it! My Little Chubba Bubba will join us next Summer for sure!

I was inspired by my Little Lady and the image given to us by the fantastic DT! I started with this,

then I finished coloring her in and added the image and all sorts of designer paper to a kraft tag. I added some ribbon, buttons and twine to stay within the inspiration. Then I decided to add my own inspiration…

I printed out the second picture on linen paper to matte for the opposite side where we will sign our names for our very special recipient.

I put everything together and this is what I came up with:

(Click on the images to see them on a larger scale)

I had so much fun with this Challenge!! I got to reflect on my time with my daughter, memories that will forever be there….I hope you enjoyed my little “treat”.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers!

We love you Papa!

August 18th, 2010

Gosh, it’s been some time that this project has been waiting to be uploaded to my blog!

I made this frame for my Dad for Father’s Day this year from the kids. It’s tough to get something for a person who wants nothing more than a quiet Sunday watching football or gardening. My parents have no wants and as much as it’s an endearing trait…it’s TOUGH!!

I set out with a photo of my two delicious baby loves, Little Miss Magic and Master Brendan…although he is become “Trouble” in our house as of late. I happened to catch this photo while they were playing in his crib one morning as they often do and to my surprise….they are BOTH looking AND smiling. Any parent knows that it’s a rarity to get something like that, I just had to share!

I used “thickers” an colored them with Copics for the sentiment “WE LOVE YOU PAPA”, some ribbon I had left over from the holidays and some pretty paper I picked up in Virginia awhile back. I then punched out two of the embellishments on the paper then popped them up and added “Amuse Creative Candy” stickers. Papa loved it and that makes me happy!!

Fit for a Batty Princess….I WON’T smell your feet!

August 9th, 2010

So the ladies over at Tiddly Inks Challenge blog gave us TWO weeks to do their current challenge….it did not take me two weeks to do this, but I am glad we had extra time….I needed it. The Summer seems to get so busy and by the time the kids are in bed….all I can think about is going to bed myself or hanging with my hubby on the couch.

I had originally decided I was going to do a cute little princess, but then I fell in love with the bat ribbon and knew I had to make a batty halloweeny princess. To be sure it was princess style…I added a sentiment like any princess would use….”Trick or Treat…But I won’t smell your feet!” I am laughing at myself…we can do that, right?!?!

I had an applesauce jar sitting on my craft desk…as soon as I sat down I cleaned it up and then altered it. I wanted to add candy corn but sadly I could not find it out on our adventures this am. I did though put all the bling a princess could want(we are doing a mommy and daughter craft soon…lots o’bling)….hope you like it!!

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers!

Mo’s Digital Pencil Christmas in July!!

August 4th, 2010

I have finally got my printer back!!! I was so happy!!! So happy, I printed four of the same image!! Here is my creation for Mo’s Christmas in July Challenge….

This is Christmas at our house now, our curly haired Hannah, baby Brendan and the fabulous Bailey Biddle Beagle!

I instantly fell in love with this image from Mo…it’s so perfect!! I colored each image with my Copics, then mounted them on the DP and Mod Podged the whole thing to a tile to make a coaster. I then spent the next hour spraying sealer on them in 15minute intervals….boo is that stuff stinky!!!!! Worth all the effort though! I already know the perfect people to give these coasters to!

Hope you enjoy!!!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

I’m baaack…but my printer is not…sniffle sniffle

July 23rd, 2010

My printer issues are still unresolved, I am hoping my hubby can find time soon to fix it. I have been missing my Tiddly Inks and Mo’s Challenges so much!! I am missing out on the Blog Hop with the talented ladies over on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog this week….ARGH!

Okay so enough of poor me…I have some a creation to share! I have had these A to Z cards in my “to do” box for a very long time. I finally ordered my laminating sheets for my Xyron 510 and got to work!

Here’s how they turned out…I plan on making a bunch more for gifts and for an upcoming craft fair!

I can’t wait to give this to my little guy….who puts everything in his mouth! The tags and laminated pages are sure to hold up to my Chubba Bubba’s chomping!!

Hope you are all having a fabulous day!!

I will be back soon with more to share….and hopefully with some digi stuff too!

Cheers,

Kristyn

Love you Bailey Biddle!

May 23rd, 2010

I know that once children come into our lives we often forget to mention our four legged babies…so when I saw the challenge over at Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog “anything but designer paper” I knew what I was going to do. I made a digital scrapbook page.

I am not too savvy with digital scrapbooking at all! The only way to learn is to practice, practice, practice….so here is my creation using “Down to the Bones” set.

This is our 7 year old pup Bailey aka Bailey Biddle..Bai…Meathead(hubby’s nickname), she was my birthday present 7 years ago from my hubby…I actually got her on Mother’s Day that year…although my birthday is not until the end of May, I guess it was meant to be! Bailey is so sweet with the kids and they just love her to pieces!! You can see that in the pictures I included. The picture on the left is of my Hannah at about 20 months old(last June) and then there is my Chubba Bubba last month when he just became stable enough to sit on his own. Our kids will always have another buddy besides each other in Bailey….she is our first baby and we just love her so!!

Thanks for stopping by….Cheers!

April Showers…May Flowers

May 6th, 2010

A quick little post today to show you something I put together for my Aunt and Uncle as a Thank You.

I made them the clipboard and card using Mo’s Digital Images that I entered into their challenges. I then went and made a bouquet of Gerber Daisies for them to add to their home for decor. I thought it would be a nice add and whenever they look at them, they will know just how thankful I was!

Here ya go….

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers!
