Spooky Skull Wreath

September 3rd, 2010

Happy Friday Everyone!! I have something fun to share with you all a Mommy and daughter craft! Remember that jar of bling I posted awhile back….well I will show you what we used them for.  While at the store Little Miss Magic picked out this guy:

Pretty scary, right?!?! Well we decided to paint her “monster” white and then add bling all over him!! When I say we added the bling, she did about 5 blings! Ha! Here’s what he looked like after the blingifying!

As you can see in the picture there is some black around his head, I added black boas to a styrofoam wreath and then put him in the center, filled with leftover boa feathers.

After the wreath placement and some tweeking I placed him on a white brocade fabric covered piece of styrofoam to add more dimension. This will be displayed either on our front door or kitchen door once the Halloween decorating starts!

It was so much fun to make and although it was VERY time consuming….that time was spent with my Little Miss Magic and her buddy Steph!

If you have any questions about it, let me know!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Can I get a Yeeeehaw!

September 1st, 2010

I am in love with country music. This past March I went to Texas for their big Rodeo with a very dear friend of mine. She showed me Texas in pure style, I had a great time on our little girls weekend. That trip inspired my project today, I really hope I get to go down there again and check out all the cowboys, sites, great music and lots of laughs! Thanks Beck!!

Today I am sharing three cards I made that have all the same elements but changed them up a little bit. We have been busy making things, this is just one thing we will sell at the craft fair in October.

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers!

Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint Review and a Challenge!

August 31st, 2010

Morning everyone!!

I’m joining in on Mo’s Halloween Hoot! Challenge today and going to review Tim Holtz’s Distress Paint. I picked up the other day when I was at the brand new Michael’s near my house. I can’t get over the amount of stuff they carry for paper crafting. It really has picked up over the years, thanks to all of us being addicted! Ha!

First, I will share….I picked Pirate Kai, love this image! Our house has become somewhat pirate obsessed, right now my daughter is recovering from surgery in her pirate jammies and pirate hat. I used a bunch of different embellishments for this project, my Copics to color and an old frame I picked up for a $1 at a local thrift store….that’s where the paint comes in!

The paint comes in a small container with a brush mounted to the cover, score…I thought it may be a little difficult to get a foam brush in the small opening.

It comes out thick so be prepared to have your project ready to go! I did not put it on too heavy because I wanted smaller crackles on my frame, you can apply more if you want larger crackles. It went on so quick and easily. Once everything was painted I blasted it with my heat tool, but I should have waited a few minutes so I stopped and then proceeded a few minutes later. In the last picture you can see that I was very successful on the right side of the frame, I will be sure to wait the next time. I was just so excited to see the outcome! I took a sander to it to bring out some of the white in the frame.

I really like this medium, it was fun to try out. At $5.99 though, I will have to wait for a coupon next time. It’s a lot for so little, I would like to see it come out in a larger scale, like Mod Podge for bigger projects. I really want to try the Soot or something red!

I got the Vintage Photo so the next time I will pick up another color as well, maybe us them both on the same project. I can’t wait to try it on other surfaces, I have a great wooden plaque I may just try out….I’ll be back!

Thanks for stopping by today, Cheers!

Back to School….already?!?!

August 30th, 2010

I can’t believe that school is starting soon for all the kids in our area, some other kids are already in school….blows my mind!

Today I am sharing my creation for the “Back to School” Challenge on Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. I have a little favorite lady who is starting Kindergarten soon and I have the honor of getting her pencil box….can’t wait. Time has been tight lately because our little lady just had her tonsils and adenoids out last week. So our house has been a little hectic, since we are chasing around our little guy too!

Here is my creation for this weeks Challenge….

I used Tiddly Inks Chalkboard Paper which was a Freebie, but I missed it…so I got it with my gift voucher from a previous Tiddly Inks Challenge….so I guess it was free! :)

I made my own notebook paper in PS then used the notebook punch I picked up last week at our BRAND NEW Michael’s…it’s so fun going into a new store. I used an A2 booklet from Paper Source and some dimensional stickers I have had forever! I am trying to really use what I have, it’s hard when you see all the new stuff out there. I have to make sure I get myself a little more organized bc before I know it my craft fair will be here!!

Well that’s it for today, I think…ha. Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Simply…Thinking of You

August 20th, 2010

Sympathy cards are really hard! It’s also really difficult to make one when you KNOW you need it, so I try to make some when I am crafting my other stuff, tuck them aside and know I have them to reach for if I need it.

I found this great website as well to share it on in their challenge this week The Cuttlebug Spot.

I used a new Cuttlebug folder, Teal Smooch to color the bird, hemp to add some texture and a “Thinking of You” sentiment, I think is from SU!. I used wood paper to keep it clean and mounted it on peacock cardstock from Paper Source to finish it off.

It’s simply yet meaningful. Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Faith

August 19th, 2010

A very close family friend was recently diagnosed with Melanoma, she is an amazing person. In last year she has become a mother and to get this type of diagnosis is not what you want to hear in your first year of motherhood…or ever!

I wanted to send her a card of support but wanted to recognize that FAITH will get you through. Whatever you believe in, I am not preaching I am just saying….your Faith will get you through. It has gotten my family through Cancer as well, I wanted her to know I was there for her.

I used So Saffron as my base, a Jenni Bowlin “Faith” card that I distressed, A home made notebook sheet, pearl adhesives and a pop of color with the fabric rose. I love this and I hope she does too, she will get through this….I have the Faith!!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Eat, Pray, Love…

August 18th, 2010

I am so excited to play along this week in the Tiddly Inks “Movie” Challenge!! At first, I thought I was going to be stumped…but after a little thought an idea popped into my head and I literally could not stop working on this card! If I was not working on it, I was thinking or talking about it!! The challenge was to make a project/card that detailed your favorite Summer movie. Well, I have yet to see this movie…it’s not the type my hubby would want to join me for, so I added it to my “Movie Wish List”. I thought if I made a little card invite to my bestie we could head out some night and catch this girlie flick. She and I try to see movies together that our hubbies won’t so this is a perfect challenge!!

I also have been wanting to try a “spinner card” for the longest time, but every time I think of it I was too far into the project…NOT THIS TIME! I am so excited that I got it right on the first try too! If you don’t know what this means…well basically the camera spins from side to side when you tip it. HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT! (Click on the pictures to see them larger)

I took three images that I thought were different enough, to showcase Christy’s amazing talent in diversity. I then made them soooo small and repeated them on the film strip sides. They were so fair when I printed them out that I had to go over them with a 0.05 Copic marker, to hide some imperfections I went over them with Crystal Effects. I then put a film camera onto the famous penny spinner for the spinner part of the card and let me tell you when I ever picked it up and saw it work….I was like a little kid…amazed, proud and excited!! I printed out some “tickets” from google images and cut them down. I used a tag punch with a brad for the “invite”. I included the designer paper because it reminds me of all the gorgeous colors in the Indian culture, which Julia visits in the movie, I think!

I can’t wait to send this off to my oldest and dearest friend(she is a dedicated reader too, so if you see this….prentend to be surprised when you get it in the mail, MUSH!)

Off to hang with my hubby to watch “Whale Wars” something we both enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

My Blueberry Girl!!

August 18th, 2010

Hey Everyone!!

I am here today to share my creation for the current challenge on Mo’s Digital Pencil Challenge Blog. It was an inspiration theme this week and I must admit, it’s my first time playing along with this type of challenge. I had asked Mo on Facebook if she was going to be adding a blueberry picking girl to her already adorable stash of kids with fruit. Much to my excitement…it was there on her blog as a new image….YIPEE!

Every Friday morning during the Summer blueberry picking season I wake up my Little Miss Magic at 7:30 and ask her if she wants to go blueberry picking with me…her response is always, “SURE Momma…lemme get dressed and get our buckets”. I treasure this time with her, most of the time she is eating the berries while I pick but we have a chance to bond and I love it! My Little Chubba Bubba will join us next Summer for sure!

I was inspired by my Little Lady and the image given to us by the fantastic DT! I started with this,

then I finished coloring her in and added the image and all sorts of designer paper to a kraft tag. I added some ribbon, buttons and twine to stay within the inspiration. Then I decided to add my own inspiration…

I printed out the second picture on linen paper to matte for the opposite side where we will sign our names for our very special recipient.

I put everything together and this is what I came up with:

(Click on the images to see them on a larger scale)

I had so much fun with this Challenge!! I got to reflect on my time with my daughter, memories that will forever be there….I hope you enjoyed my little “treat”.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers!

We love you Papa!

August 18th, 2010

Gosh, it’s been some time that this project has been waiting to be uploaded to my blog!

I made this frame for my Dad for Father’s Day this year from the kids. It’s tough to get something for a person who wants nothing more than a quiet Sunday watching football or gardening. My parents have no wants and as much as it’s an endearing trait…it’s TOUGH!!

I set out with a photo of my two delicious baby loves, Little Miss Magic and Master Brendan…although he is become “Trouble” in our house as of late. I happened to catch this photo while they were playing in his crib one morning as they often do and to my surprise….they are BOTH looking AND smiling. Any parent knows that it’s a rarity to get something like that, I just had to share!

I used “thickers” an colored them with Copics for the sentiment “WE LOVE YOU PAPA”, some ribbon I had left over from the holidays and some pretty paper I picked up in Virginia awhile back. I then punched out two of the embellishments on the paper then popped them up and added “Amuse Creative Candy” stickers. Papa loved it and that makes me happy!!

Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!
